Amcor launches PET container made from 100% PCR resin for Ritual Multivitamins

Amcor leads the way in the multivitamin category by developing and launch the segment?s first PET container made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled content (PCR) resin.

Amcor has recently announced that it has created the new and clear bottle in two sizes of 100 cubic centimeters and 150 cubic centimeters, for Ritual Multivitamins.

Ritual is a leader in the multivitamin industry that has challenged the status quo by putting traceability at its core. Being committed to creating a product that is as earth-conscious as possible and keeping in line with its core philosophy, it has partnered with Amcor Rigid Packaging to develop a packaging solution that would support its mission to find a new use for existing materials and create a reusable and sustainable future.

Talking about the partnership with Amcor, Katerina Schneider, founder and CEO of Ritual, says, ?By partnering with companies like Amcor who share our commitment to creating an earth-friendly supply chain, we were able to develop a 100% recycled bottle that meets our same high-quality standards.?

When reinventing the multivitamin, Ritual went to great lengths to ensure its ingredients not only helped to support the body but were also great for the environment. It believes the materials that hold its capsules should be no different, highlights Katerina.

Harry Goldstein VP healthcare with Amcor Rigid Packaging, says, ?Our collaboration with Ritual has delivered an attractive packaging solution that reflects the brand?s mission and commitment to the environment.? ?Mentioning that Amcor partnered with its PCR supplier to deliver exceptional quality, Harry stresses that the result is amazing, and the clarity of the bottle is incredible.?

PCR is comprised of recycled materials, including PET beverage bottles that have served their purpose (have been used by the consumer) and subsequently been recycled to produce a new product.

PCR is available, cost-competitive, and a more sustainable packaging option than other choices.

The use of PCR helps to support the recycling infrastructure and reduces demand on virgin resins. As per Amcor Asset Life Cycle Analysis, the manufacturing process of 100-cubic-centimeter and 150-cubic-centimeter bottles by using 100 percent recycled content is known to generate a quarter less of emissions.

When using a high percentage of PCR, maintaining color and clarity can be a challenge. Engineers from Amcor have created a color-stable bottle for Ritual that is close to virgin PET clarity.

It is to be noted that PET, which has rapidly become the world?s preferred packaging material, is lightweight, shatterproof, recloseable, resealable, reusable, and infinitely recyclable (existing technologies including chemical recycling).

According to Amcor?s Asset Lifecycle Analysis, PET bottles often have the lowest carbon footprint, and their production results in up to 70 percent less greenhouse gas emissions than other packaging materials.
